Care & Maintenance
Preserve the beauty and integrity of your wooden tea cabinet for generations to come.
1. Climate Control
Wood is a living material. Keep your tea cabinet away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and air conditioning units. Extreme fluctuations in temperature and humidity can cause the wood to warp or crack. Ideal humidity levels are between 40% and 60%.
2. Routine Cleaning
Dust your cabinet regularly using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth or a traditional feather duster. Avoid using commercial silicone-based polishes or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the natural wax or lacquer finish.
3. Moisture Protection
While tea ceremonies involve water, it is crucial to wipe up any spills on the cabinet immediately. Use coasters under wet or hot teaware. For stubborn spots, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth.
4. Waxing and Polishing
Once or twice a year, apply a thin coat of high-quality beeswax or specialized wood wax. Rub it in gently following the grain of the wood, let it sit for a few minutes, and buff to a soft luster.
